MISSION
Writing Our Rhymes Down (W.O.R.D.) operates in-class and extracurricular hip-hop based literacy programs for high school students who seek additional learning opportunities in Montreal’s public schools. We aim to provide a supplement to the traditional classroom, encouraging literacy development and empowerment by using hip-hop as a tool for engagement.
VISION
FIDUCIARY RELATIONSHIP
The Carrefour Jeunesse-Emploi NDG (CJE NDG) is W.O.R.D.'s proud fiduciary partner. Established in 1998, CJE NDG is a non-profit organization primarily serving youth aged 16 to 35 in specific neighborhoods. Over the years, supported by various organizations and government grants, it has expanded services, including entrepreneurship, employment integration, and international projects. They have also extended their services to those 35 and over since 2011, benefiting over 15,000 people. Their holistic approach helps clients develop essential skills for success in the job market.
We want a more just world where young people’s innate skill sets and strengths are valued in ways that allow them to tackle real world problems. We are deeply dedicated to supporting and guiding youth as they build these skills, and, over time, gather the tools they need to go out and create a more just world for themselves, their peers, and their communities.
